McLaren has unveiled a sweeping overhaul of its front wing assembly during the Sao Paulo Grand Prix weekend.
Arriving as part of a comprehensive late-season development kit for the MCL40, the updated design offers a direct preview of the aerodynamic foundation the Woking-based outfit intends to run on its 2027 challenger, the MCL41.
The fresh package deployed at Interlagos is not limited to the front end. McLaren has also introduced structural floor modifications alongside a re-engineered rear wing assembly. However, the front wing represents the most distinct architectural pivot within the team's continuous technical progression.
The newly surfaced front wing features extensive updates across every section of the assembly. Key structural alterations include:
Endplate mounting point: The main plane now connects along the bottom perimeter to link directly with a reshaped outboard section.
Nose attachment: The central mounting assembly has been repositioned, securing the nose cone to the second flap element rather than anchoring directly to the primary plane.

Flap Geometry: The vertical profile and heights of individual flap segments have been systematically recalibrated to optimize air flow direction.
These changes aim to improve overall downforce generation while delivering a more predictable aerodynamic balance across high- and low-speed corners.
As the team targets third place in the Constructors' Championship, aerodynamic chief Peter Prodromou emphasized that this weekend's package serves dual purposes: securing instant performance gains while establishing the groundwork for next season.

Prodromou confirmed that while data gathered at São Paulo will guide ongoing research, the underlying structural concept of this front wing will remain intact when next year's MCL41 makes its official debut.
