Marcus Ericsson has revealed that he had a bike accident while preparing for this weekend’s Malaysian Grand Prix, with the Sauber driver hitting a “big chicken” during a training camp in Thailand.
The Swede arrived in Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday to attend a sponsor event and was spotted with bandages on his right fingers and left elbow. Ericsson later took to his Twitter account to relate the surprising encounter he had while riding his bicycle.
“As some of you've read I had a accident on the bicycle in Thailand,” the 26-year-old said. “[I was] lucky to get away with only bruises and scratches.
“Hitting a (big) chicken doing 45km/h is not to recommend but I'm all patched up and ready for the weekend.
“And believe it or not the chicken kept on running!! Not sure what they feed the chickens in Thailand because that was a big hit!”
