Pirelli gets extra pre-season wet weather test

The F1 Commission meeting in Geneva yesterday has suggested that Pirelli be provided with additional wet weather testing before the season gets underway.

Pirelli's wet weather tyres came under heavy criticism from drivers after last year's Brazilian Grand Prix, with the rubber's performance having been judged as insufficient.

But Pirelli's blue circled tyres also came under scrutiny following the FIA's plan to have s standing start when a race gets underway behind the Safety Car and once rain subsides.

In order to further test and validate the work conducted on the specific grooved compound, Pirelli has asked for extra pre-season testing.

Tuesday's F1 Commission meeting resulted in the Italian manufacturer's requets being fulfilled, with a single-car we t weather test to take place in the coming weeks at a location to be decided.
