In a good example of F1 fan engagement in the digital age, Lewis Hamilton is asking his fans to design his 2017 helmet in an online competition.
Anybody wishing to take part in the design contest can download a template and file their art work through Instagram.
The winner will not only enjoy the honour of watching the three-time world champion race all season with the customized lid, but will also receive a full-size replica signed by the Mercedes driver.
FIA regulations introduced two years ago mean a driver cannot change helmet liveries during the season although a one-off alternative design is allowed a race of the a drivers' choice.
