Red Bull's RB13 transported by special military aircraft!

Red Bull Racing's new RB13, which will be launched later today at the Circuit de Catalunya, is apparently a heavily guarded secret.

The team's 2017 car which it hopes will successfully take the challenge to Mercedes was still in the process of receiving its finishing touches as late as Friday, according to website F1 Today.

The car was delivered to Heathrow yesterday morning, surrounded by stringent security measures to prevent even the slightest glimpse of the machine under its covers.

"Someone from the team continuously remains with the car so that nobody secretly takes pictures of it", said a source within the team.

"He's flown in a special plane to Barcelona, which previously happened to be a military aircraft. A team truck drives to the airport in Barcelona and transports the car from there to the circuit so that we can begin work. I have not seen the car personally yet!"

A few more hours of patience and we'll find out what the RB13 has to offer.

Phillip van Osten

Motor racing was a backdrop from the outset in Phillip van Osten's life. Born in Southern California, Phillip grew up with the sights and sounds of fast cars thanks to his father, Dick van Osten, an editor and writer for Auto Speed and Sport and Motor Trend. Phillip's passion for racing grew even more when his family moved to Europe and he became acquainted with the extraordinary world of Grand Prix racing. He was an early contributor to the monthly French F1i Magazine, often providing a historic or business perspective on Formula 1's affairs. In 2012, he co-authored along with fellow journalist Pierre Van Vliet the English-language adaptation of a limited edition book devoted to the great Belgian driver Jacky Ickx. He also authored "The American Legacy in Formula 1", a book which recounts the trials and tribulations of American drivers in Grand Prix racing. Phillip is also a commentator for Belgian broadcaster Be.TV for the US Indycar series.
