Jolyon Palmer will get another chance to drive for Lotus next weekend after being confirmed for FP1 at the Bahrain Grand Prix.

Lotus handed Palmer his Friday practice debut in China yesterday, with the 2014 GP2 champion impressing as he finished the session 0.6s slower than Pastor Maldonado in the other car. Speaking on Friday afternoon, Palmer said he was likely to drive again at Sakhir next weekend.

"I should be in for Bahrain," Palmer said. "We'll see, we're just waiting for it to be confirmed.

"It's perfect for me to come here. This was always going to be a tough one because I didn't know the track and still fairly fresh to the car. At least Bahrain is only a week away, so it keeps me in the groove in the car, and it's a track I know. I'm hoping for improvement obviously."

And the Briton later tweeted confirmation of his second FP2 run:
