The 1991 Formula One season saw Circuit de Catalunya host its first ever Spanish Grand Prix. The event remains famous for the epic wheel-to-wheel duel between championship leader and McLaren-Honda star Ayrton Senna and Williams-Renault title rival Nigel Mansell.
The Brazilian had a better start on a greasy track but the Briton soon started hunting him down to reclaim the position. Mansell drew alongside Senna on the main straight and set up a mesmerising battle of wills with both drivers only inches apart.
Having the inside line, Mansell eventually made the move stick under braking before scampering away to secure his fifth win of 1991. But Senna would ultimately win the biggest prize and become a triple world champion at the end of the season.
