By his own admission, Lewis Hamilton’s start to his Silverstone weekend had not been the smoothest before he nailed qualifying to start from pole. But the home favourite still had to dig deep during the race, first to re-pass the two Williams which had overhauled him in the opening laps and then to master tricky wet conditions, in order to emerge as a third-time British Grand Prix winner.
