It has been a long time since Sebastian Vettel has been able to raise his index finger following a qualifying session, with his last pole position coming at the 2013 Brazilian Grand Prix. His first pole with Ferrari was a special one, coming courtesy of a "near-perfect lap", while Nico Rosberg even admitted Vettel appeared to be "on a different planet in some corners".
