Lucky sevens for Michael Schumacher in 2004

It was on June 13 2004 that Michael Schumacher clinched his 77th career win in Formula 1. It was his seventh win out of eight races so far that season, and also his seventh (and last) win in Canada.

No one had taken more victories in Montreal than Schumacher, although Lewis Hamilton is now only one behind.

The 2004 Canadian Grand Prix almost didn't happen. The race had originally dropped dropped from the calendar in a row over tobacco sponsorship, but was later reinstated. At the finish line, Schumacher took the chequered flag ahead of his brother Ralf who was driving for Williams. Schumacher's Ferrari team mate Rubens Barrichello was third place. However a post-race technical inspection led to the disqualification of both the Williams and Toyota teams due to an irregularity in their brake ducts.

That gave Ferrari a 1-2 success, and above is a shot of Michael, Rubens and Ferrari race engineer Chris Dyer celebrating their success. BAR's Jenson Button retrospectively took the final podium position.
