Esteban Ocon proves you should believe the Hype!

While Esteban Ocon obviously gets a boost from Force India sponsor Hype Energy, the real hype surrounding the 20-year-old is genuine.

Ocon's performance in F1 since his debut at Spa last summer has been remarkable, with the Frenchman finishing every single race since and scoring points in nine of his ten races with Force India this season!

"Esteban has come up to speed really well and is quicker than I thought - it's fantastic," said Force India boss Vijay Mallya.

"We had a tough call to make over the winter about who our driver was going to be. There were only rookies available and I think we made the right choice."

"He's only going to mature and get better. You know that experience is hugely important, and the more experience he gets the better he's going to become."

"He has the talent, which has showed already. I'm happy we have him signed up on a multi-year contract, so I'm expecting regular point-scoring finishes from him."

Phillip van Osten

Motor racing was a backdrop from the outset in Phillip van Osten's life. Born in Southern California, Phillip grew up with the sights and sounds of fast cars thanks to his father, Dick van Osten, an editor and writer for Auto Speed and Sport and Motor Trend. Phillip's passion for racing grew even more when his family moved to Europe and he became acquainted with the extraordinary world of Grand Prix racing. He was an early contributor to the monthly French F1i Magazine, often providing a historic or business perspective on Formula 1's affairs. In 2012, he co-authored along with fellow journalist Pierre Van Vliet the English-language adaptation of a limited edition book devoted to the great Belgian driver Jacky Ickx. He also authored "The American Legacy in Formula 1", a book which recounts the trials and tribulations of American drivers in Grand Prix racing. Phillip is also a commentator for Belgian broadcaster Be.TV for the US Indycar series.
