Juan Manuel Correa will be racing at Spa this weekend, the ART Grand Prix driver returning to the scene of the tragic events that claimed the life of Anthoine Hubert in 2019 and that nearly left himself lost for the sport.
Correa resumed his motorsport career this year in the FIA Formula 3 Championship after multiple operations to repair his shattered legs and over a year of revalidation.
The American Ecuadorian visited Spa last year, constrained to a wheelchair. But his return to active duty this weekend - two years on from that fateful day when his life changed at the top of the hill at Spa's Raidillon - takes on a whole different meaning.
"It feels strange to be back here as a driver," Correa wrote on Instagram as he cast a thought for Anthoine.
"I feel humbled to have the opportunity to keep doing what I love and try to find comfort in the fact that he would have done the same thing.
"This and every weekend we race for you my friend."
