It was a proud day last Sunday for the family of the late Dan Wheldon, with 14-year-old Sebastian Wheldon picking up his first career win in car racing.
The youngster - who was just three years old when his father, a two-time winner of the Indy 500, was tragically killed in an IndyCar race in Las Vegas in 2011 – beat his rivals to the checkered flag in the third round of the Skip Barber Racing Series held at Virginia International Raceway.
It was a clear-cut affair for the Andretti Autosport protégé who enjoyed a lights-to-flag win from pole position in the 10-lap race.
As he embarks on his exciting journey, Sebastian Wheldon is showcasing the potential to leave his own indelible mark on the racing world, continuing the Wheldon family's legacy of success.
