As scheduled, motorcycle legend Mick Doohan is celebrating this weekend in Melbourne 30 years since winning the first of his five 500cc World Championship titles.
To commemorate the achievement, the Aussie legend took to the track at Albert Park on Saturday morning saddling a modern MotoGP Honda RCV213 for a series of demo runs shared with his son, Alpine F1 reserve Jack Doohan who was at the wheel of a 2000 Benetton B200 F1 car.
The moment of motorsport royalty was highly appreciated by the massive congregation of fans lining the circuit this weekend for the Australian GP.
However, a technical issue on the Benetton forced Jack to switch to a 1967 Brabham B23B.
The father and son pair will be back on Sunday for another bout of demo runs.
