Forty years before the Haas F1 Team prepares to join the grid, no fewer than three US teams produced cars for the 1975 season: Shadow, Penske and Parnelli. Penske took one victory at Zeltweg in 1976 (thanks to John Watson) and Shadow followed suite at the same circuit a year later (via Alan Jones), but Parnelli never won a race.
