Forty years before the Haas F1 Team prepares to join the grid, no fewer than three US teams produced cars for the 1975 season: Shadow, Penske and Parnelli. Here, Mario Andretti drives for Parnelli at the United States Grand Prix West at Long Beach. Penske took one victory at Zeltweg in 1976 (thanks to John Watson) and Shadow followed suite at the same circuit a year later (via Alan Jones), but Parnelli never won a race.
