Hamilton reigns supreme in wet Fuji

Lewis Hamilton won the 2007 Japanese Grand Prix at a rain-soaked Fuji Speedway on this date nine years ago. In doing so, the Briton, who was in his rookie F1 season, opened a 12-point lead over Mclaren team-mate Fernando Alonso with two races remaining, with Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen another five points adrift. The Finn would eventually win the title that year after Hamilton faltered in the last couple of events.
