F1i's Driver Ratings for the 2019 Spanish GP

Alexander Albon (P11): 6.5/10
Alex Albon came within a second of claiming another championship point in Spain, only to be denied that satisfaction in the closing laps of the race. It's a shame, as the Thai-British driver showed flashes of form this weekend which included besting his Toro Rosso team mate in the FP3 timesheets. Unfortunately he didn't manage to replicate that in qualifying where he was once again just outside the top ten - the story of his weekend, really. He did have a late opportunity to challenge Romain Grosjean for a points position but it could have ended in disaster, so credit where it's due that he kept calm and carried on without pressing the issue as many hungry young rookies might have been tempted to do.

Andrew first became a fan of Formula 1 during the time when Michael Schumacher and Damon Hill were stepping into the limelight after the era of Alain Prost, Nigel Mansell and Aryton Senna. He worked for many years in magazine production at Bauer Media, and for over a decade he was part of the digital media team at the UK government's communications department.
