F1i looks back at how the Singapore Grand Prix at the Marina Bay Circuit unfolded and gives each driver a mark out of ten
Nico Rosberg - 1st place, 25 points - 9/10
I’ve pointed out how few times Rosberg has had to excel to win this season, but he certainly did so this weekend. In qualifying the German was in excellent form, taking pole by over 0.6s and more impressively beating team-mate Lewis Hamilton by 0.7s. Controlled the race from the front and was simply “blindingly quick” to use Toto Wolff’s words, before the excitement of the closing laps. Perfectly judged when to push and how much tyre performance to keep in reserve, and laps 57 and 58 - when he upped his pace to prevent Daniel Ricciardo gaining more than a total of 0.6s - were the crucial ones which just kept the Red Bull at bay.
