Jenson Button will have to take a drive-through penalty in the Canadian Grand Prix following Saturday's reliability issues.

With Honda struggling all weekend, Button stopped at the end of FP3 and was unable to take part in qualifying. McLaren has now confirmed the MGU-H and the turbocharger has had to be changed on Button's car ahead of this afternoon's race in Montreal.

As Button is using a fifth power unit element, each change carries a penalty with the first component resulting in a 10-place grid penalty and the second component an additional five places.

With Button already starting from the pit lane, the combined 15-place grid penalty is converted in to a race penalty and will see him take a drive through during Sunday's race.

Max Verstappen also has a 10-second time penalty to take at his first pit stop as a result of not being able to take enough of his grid penalties this weekend.
