Jenson Button says McLaren has to target points in the Hungarian Grand Prix as the Hungaroring will suit its car.

After a tough start to the season, Button finished eighth in Monaco to score McLaren's first points of 2015 thanks to the track putting less emphasis on power unit performance. When it was put to Button the Hungaroring is likely to be more favourable to McLaren than recent circuits, he replied: "It should, much more.

"In terms of layout of the circuit, we have some parts that will help some of the weaknesses that we have in certain speed corners. You have to say we’re hoping for points – the last time I scored points was Monaco and that’s the last time I finished a race, so I suppose that’s pretty good possibility of scoring points."

With Honda aiming to make "full use" of the ERS at the Hungaroring, Button admits it is an area where the team has been held back so far this season.

"Everyone’s got different systems. We’ve probably, at certain points, had the maximum of what our system will allow us, yes. Hopefully it’ll be another step here."
