Kevin Magnussen has suffered a broken hand after a falling off his bicycle during training.
The McLaren reserve driver has often been at races in his role this season in order to provide back-up to race drivers Fernando Alonso and Jenson Button, as well as offering input across the race weekend. However, he will be unable to step in to the car in either Singapore or Japan following is accident.
A McLaren spokesman confirmed Magnussen will need around three weeks to recover from the injury.
"Kevin has been training extensively on his bicycle over the past few weeks and months, but unfortunately he fell off it the other day," the spokesman confirmed to F1i. "He has sustained a small fracture in his left hand, but is expected to make a full recovery within the next three weeks or so."
The Dane's future has been the centre of speculation during the summer, with McLaren racing director Eric Boullier announcing the team's intention to retain Button, which would leave Magnussen without a race seat at McLaren.
