Lewis Hamilton and Daniel Ricciardo have both received nominations for the prestigious Laureus World Sports Awards.
Following an impressive title winning season last year - in which he won 11 of the 19 races - Hamilton is nominated for World Sportsman of the Year. The Mercedes driver is up against MotoGP's Marc Marquez as well as footballer Cristiano Ronaldo, golfer Rory McIlroy - who Hamilton beat to the BBC Sports Personality of the Year award in 2014 - tennis player Novak Djokovic and pole vault world record holder Renaud Lavillenie.
Hamilton is not in direct competition with Ricciardo in this occasion, with the Australian nominated in the Breakthrough of the Year category. Ricciardo's first season driving for Red Bull saw him take three victories - the only non-Mercedes driver to win a race - as he finished third in the drivers' championship.
Also nominated in the Breakthrough of the Year category are footballers Mario Gotze (Germany) and James Rodriguez (Columbia), tennis player Marin Cilic (Croatia), US skier Mikaela Shiffrin and the Swiss Davis Cup team.
Following its dominant 2014 season, Mercedes has also been nominated for World Team of the Year. The awards will take place in Shanghai following the Chinese Grand Prix weekend.
