Magnussen: no complaints about Haas' brake performance

Haas' new recruit Kevin Magnussen says he has no complaints to formulate about braking, contrary to team mate Romain Grosjean.

The Frenchman complained on numerous occasions last season about a lack of feel and inconsistency with the brakes of his car. It's a problem he says has spilled over to this year's VF17 chassis.

Haas has investigated the issue which is apparently linked to Brembo's disc and pad combo. The team plans to test the same component from supplier Carbone Industrie in Bahrain.

In the interim, Magnussen is happy with his brakes performance.

"People ask about brake problems with our car, but I've had no problems," he is quoted by the Danish newspaper BT.

"I think it is all working well.  I am reasonably happy with the brakes. But I am still in the process of learning about the car, becoming more familiar and pushing it to the limit.

"When you achieve this, you obviously make more mistakes and have more problems. But until now it has been quite good," Magnussen added.

It's unclear why one driver would not perceive the other's weakness with a standard mechanical component identical on both cars.

The issue could simply underline a difference in usage or feel between Magnussen and Grosjean. Grosjean admitted that his confidence had been somewhat undermined by the chronic brake problem.
