Any takers for Michael Schumacher's 1991 Benetton?

Any well-heeled die-hard Michael Schumacher fan looking for a full scale piece of memorabilia might want to consider the German's Benetton B-191 which is soon coming up for auction.

Bonhams shall be handling the potential sale at the upcoming Spa Classic to be held at the Spa track on May 21.

This particular chassis made its debut with Roberto Moreno at the San Marino GP in 1991 before it was handed to team mate Nelson Piquet later on in the season.

Schumacher meanwhile made his F1 debut in Belgium with Jordan before Flavio Briatore convinced the German to jump ship and join Benetton at the following Italian GP at Monza, much to thechagrin of Moreno.

The car spent most of its life in a museum before entering restoration in 2016.

In case you're wondering, it is estimated to fetch between £640,000 and £810,000.

Phillip van Osten

Motor racing was a backdrop from the outset in Phillip van Osten's life. Born in Southern California, Phillip grew up with the sights and sounds of fast cars thanks to his father, Dick van Osten, an editor and writer for Auto Speed and Sport and Motor Trend. Phillip's passion for racing grew even more when his family moved to Europe and he became acquainted with the extraordinary world of Grand Prix racing. He was an early contributor to the monthly French F1i Magazine, often providing a historic or business perspective on Formula 1's affairs. In 2012, he co-authored along with fellow journalist Pierre Van Vliet the English-language adaptation of a limited edition book devoted to the great Belgian driver Jacky Ickx. He also authored "The American Legacy in Formula 1", a book which recounts the trials and tribulations of American drivers in Grand Prix racing. Phillip is also a commentator for Belgian broadcaster Be.TV for the US Indycar series.
