Gutierrez lined up to replace Bourdais in Indycar

According to Racer.com, former Haas driver Esteban Gutierrez is a leading candidate to replace Sebastien Bourdais at Dale Coyne Racing's IndyCar outfit for the remainder of the season.

Bourdais' Season came to an abrupt end during qualifying for the Indy 500 earlier this month, with the French driver hitting the wall and sustaining a fractured pelvis and left hip which have put him out of commission as he goes through a lengthy rehab period.

James Davison, who replaced Bourdais in the Indy 500 and ran as high as third on Sunday before crashing out with just 17 laps to go, is also in contention for a seat at Dale Coyne.

"I've had at least 30 drivers call," said Coyne on Tuesday morning.

"I don't have any other comment than that but Davison is a candidate, certainly."

Gutierrez made his F1 debut with Sauber in 2013 and ran for two seasons with the Swiss outfit before being signed by Ferrari as a test driver.

The Mexican then came back to the fray with the Haas F1 Team during its maiden year in Grand Prix year but failed to make a lasting impression.

Gutierrez then found refuge in Formula E, joining the all-electric series in Mexico with Techeetah for his home race.
