Ross Brawn recruits ex-Williams man Steve Nielsen

Steve Nielsen, who attended his last race as Williams' sporting director last weekend, will soon join a team of specialists working under the guidance of F1 sporting manager Ross Brawn.

As he works to define Formula 1's future, Brawn has set up a group of specialists and former team personnel  to help him move the sport forward, with a focus on 2021, when new engine rules come into play.

In May, F1 announced Jason Somerville as Head of Aerodynamics, Craig Wilson as Head of Vehicle Performance, and Nigel Kerr as Finance Director, Motorsports.

Steve Nielsen's official job title is Head of Sporting Matters at The Formula One Group.

The  Brit's responsibilities shall include collecting feedback on the day-to-day running of F1 teams, but Nielsen will also be involved in defining future regulations, acting as an official representative of F1 alongside the teams and the FIA.

Steve Nielsen leaves Williams at the end of the month and will be replaced at the Grove-based outfit by former McLaren man Dave Redding.
