Kvyat oblivious to pressure following successive penalties

Toro Rosso's Dany Kvyat says he isn't feeling any particular pressure before the Hungarian GP following a troubled series of races and incidents.

The Russian driver found himself on the receiving end of the stewards' wrath in Canada, Austria and Silverstone where he was handed a drive-thru and two penalty points on his superlicense after colliding with team mate Carlos Sainz on the opening lap of the British GP.

Despite the mishaps and the fact that he is now three points short of an outright race ban, Kvyat remains unfazed, and oblivious to any pressure

"I no longer feel any pressure, first of all because these are two different kind of accidents," Kvyat told FormulaPassion.it.

"At the end you don’t change the approach, we’re racing and not just avoiding collisions. Before the last two races there were some problems, and when you start pushing things a bit, it never ends well.

"Normally, after two races like these, you take a deep breath and go on."

Asked if the nine penalty points of his superlicense would act as a deterrent out on the race track, Kvyat said it would not.

"No, also Vettel had nine points on his license, but all these are not eleven, so you can go and do your job. This is not something that bothers me, absolutely."

Toro Rosso team boss Franz Tost put the blame on both Kvyat and Sainz for their costly run-in at Silverstone.

While Sainz was critical of his team mate's maneuver, the Russian sent the ball back in the Spaniard's camp, claiming he should have anticipated events.

Toro Rosso's drivers remain free to race, but while Kvyat did not seek to clear the air with Sainz, the team has issued a stringent recommendation that they do their best to stay out of trouble and out of each other's way.

"There were no meeting of this kind, there was just a request from the team, for me and for him, to end the race with both cars," Kvyat added.

"We’re free to race, but both cars have to finish the race. It’s the only recommendation we received. I don’t care about the rest."
