Magnussen work ethic criticism unjustified - Steiner

Guenther Steiner says Haas  has had absolutely no issues with Kevin Magnussen's work ethic since the Dane joined the US outfit.

Magnussen moved to Haas after a year with Renault where he apparently did not live up to the French team's expectations.

Renault Sport F1 boss Cyril Abiteboul called into question his former drivers' work ethic, a assertion which has left Steiner baffled.

"I don’t know where that comes from because that is not what I experience," Steiner told  Motorsport.com.

"Kevin now has got a trainer with him, a very good guy which helps him in all aspects of life.

"I haven’t known the Kevin from three years ago, therefore I could not say, but I have never seen that he’s lacking effort or anything."

Steiner admits that Magnussen's personality is rather on the relaxed and quiet side but insists there are no doubts about his involvement and will to push the team forward.

"He is different, as a personality he’s more of an introvert but I don’t want to change people’s personalities.

"That’s his personality. He does his job. Is he the guy that is outgoing? No. But that’s fine.

"As long as he does his work and he’s very positive to the team and his feedback is good."

He was an early contributor to the monthly French F1i Magazine, often providing a historic or business perspective on Formula 1's affairs. In 2012, he co-authored along with fellow journalist Pierre Van Vliet the English-language adaptation of a limited edition book devoted to the great Belgian driver Jacky Ickx. He also authored "The American Legacy in Formula 1", a book which recounts the trials and tribulations of American drivers in Grand Prix racing. Phillip is also a commentator for Belgian broadcaster Be.TV for the US Indycar series.
