The Formula One Group is providing fans with the ability to vote on a classic Malaysian GP which shall be streamed in full on F1's official website and Youtube channel.
Since its takeover by Liberty Media at the end of last year, Formula 1 has been ramping up the use of its digital content and archives, with distribution conducted through its website, Youtube and its social media accounts.
The sport will likely see the launch of an over-the-top (OTT) online broadcasting platform sometime in the future, but in the interim it will broadcast a full race next week with fans offered the choice between the 2001, 2003 and 2012 Sepang races.
The vote will be tallied through Twitter and the winning race will be revealed next week.
While the event is seen as a one-off for now, F1 could repeat the experience depending on the initiative's success.
This year's Malaysia GP will be F1's nineteenth and last visit to Sepang as the race has not been retained for next year.
