David Schumacher enjoyed a successful start to his single-seater career, running at the front on on his debut in the UAE Formula 4 series.
The 16-year-old son of Ralf Schumacher and nephew of Michael scored a quartet of podium finishes in the four-race Abu Dhabi event - three runner-up finishes and one third place.
Schumacher then moved on to Dubai last weekend where he achieved his first race win in the F4UAE Championship powered by Abarth.
"It was a really tough weekend, but it's getting better and better to learn the cars each race," said the teenager.
His proud father was on hand to witness his son's successful debut but warned that tougher competition was likely on its way.
"It was a strong weekend for David, but every race, every start, is important while they're learning," said the six-time Grand Prix winner.
"For sure as a father I'm very proud of David winning the race, he was able to recover from the incidents on track, but that is why they're here, to gain as much experience as they can.
"David only started in F4 last weekend but I think he's doing well. What he showed in the last races makes me very proud.
"But we also realise that the competition back in Europe will be very strong."
