The miraculous Billy Monger made another move towards a return to racing yesterday after completing a single-seater test with Carlin at Oulton Park.

Last April at Donington, the 18-year-old survived a horrific crash in a round of the British Formula 4 championship, suffering the loss of both his legs, but Monger's determination and will to race emerged intact from the ordeal, with the teenager focused on returning to the race track since day 1.

Last year, following an incredibly speedy recovery, Monger got back behind the wheel of VW Fun Cup and then worked thereafter with the FIA and the MSA - Britains's motorsport governing body - to amend a rule preventing disabled drivers from taking part in single-seater racing.

Monger will undergo a testing program with Carlin, running with BRDC F3 machinery.

"Billy Whizz" insists his dream of racing one day in Formula 1 is alive and well!

"My focus is on driving in F3 next season, we are working on a budget for it and long term I want to get into F1," he told Sky News.

"I'm so grateful to everyone who has backed me."
