Formula E winner Felix Rosenqvist believes the all-electric series provides him with the best chance of making it to the grids of F1.
The 26-year-old Swede enjoyed success in the junior ranks of motorsport, clinching the European F3 title in 2015, but struggled to move up the ladder thereafter for a lack of funding.
Rosenqvist was recruited by Mahindra Racing to compete in FE's 2016/17 season, bringing the team and himself their first win in Berlin last summer.
"I made it quite clear this is the championship I want to be in now," Rosenqvist told Motorsport.com.
"I think it's my best shot at going to Formula 1 if there's any chance left.
"It's where the best drivers are right now outside of F1. As long as you can beat those you should be good enough, right?
"That's what I'm thinking on my career path. I'm still young enough to go to F1 so I shouldn't give up on that. I find this is the best place to be rather than DTM or F2 or IndyCar."
Rosenqvist won the Hong Kong ePrix in early December and doubled down on his race wins in Marrakesh. In Formula E's driver standings, the Swede currently lies second, trailing Techeetah's Jean-Eric Vergne by five points.
