Kubica pays tribute to 'incredible' Polish fans

As the first Polish driver to compete in F1, Robert Kubica has always enjoyed massive support from his home country.

After a seven-year hiatus from Grand Prix racing following his very severe rally crash in 2011, the 33-year-old has revived his dreams thanks to a reserve driver and testing role with Williams.

And his devoted fan base, which never lost faith and followed him through thick and thin, is once again voicing its support wherever he happens to be.

"Polish fans are incredible," the former Grand Prix winner and Williams driver told Mobil 1 The Grid.

"It’s not only in F1 [that] they have been following me. They have been following me in rally, whatever races I was doing – on the race track, on the rally stage, in snow, in wet. It’s amazing.

"I know they have high expectations and they felt a bit disappointed [that Kubica didn’t get a full-time drive] but I think we have to look at it [with] a bit of a wider angle.

"I think nobody thought that 12 months ago I would have a chance to get this possibility.

"The fans for sure [made] me becoming stronger, I think. They really gave me [a] smile. I would like to thank everybody and, let’s see us on the race track!”
