Williams requests review of Alonso's actions in Baku

Williams Racing have lodged a protest against several decisions taken by the Azerbaijan Grand Prix stewards, one of which involves its driver Sergey Sirotkin.

The Russian was hit with a three-place grid penalty for next weekend's Spanish Grand Prix and handed two penalty points on his licence as a result of a collision with Force India's Sergio Perez on the opening lap of the race.

In its protest, Williams also specifically referenced the actions of McLaren's Fernando Alonso in Baku.

The Spaniard had nursed his heavily damaged car back to the pits after an incident on the opening that also involved Sirotkin, as well as Renault's Nico Hulkenberg.

While Sirotkin retired on the spot, Alonso went on to finish the race in seventh place, just one spot ahead of Williams' Lance Stroll.

Williams also requested a review of the first lap clash between Kimi Raikkonen and Esteban Ocon, as well as of the dangerous high speed contact between Haas' Kevin Magnussen and Toro Rosso's Pierre Gasly.

The FIA will organize a preliminary hearing on Tuesday at 10am local time, via teleconference, with team representatives, during which new evidence supplied by Williams shall be considered.

"This will be followed by another hearing to conduct the review(s), if any new element is determined by the stewards to exist," said the governing body.
