Ricciardo springs from a race win to another circuit he loves

Beaming and still all wrapped up in the glory of his Monaco Grand Prix win, a buoyed Daniel Ricciardo heads to Montreal, the site of the Aussie's very first F1 win.

The prospect of heading to another track where Red Bull should perform well after blitzing the field in the previous round has the Honey Badger all wound up.

"I think it’s only just really sinking in that I won the Monaco Grand Prix and crossing the line after such a challenging race felt amazing," Ricciardo said in Red Bull Racing's Canadian Grand Prix preview.

"My name is on the board now and it feels good to win the most iconic F1 race there is. After winning in Monaco it’s awesome to be going straight to another street circuit that I love."

The 28-year-old won at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve with Red Bull in 2014, but since he's only put a third-place finish on the board.

Ricciardo will definitely be going for another outright win next week, spurred on by his current form and perhaps the grunt of a new-spec engine that Renault will hopefully supply to the Milton Keynes squad in Canada.

"It’s definitely one of my favourite races of the year, both because of the track and also the city of Montreal itself," he said.

"The city is just awesome. I’ve had some mixed results in the race but I did win my first Grand Prix there in 2014 and had a podium last year.

"We’ve got some new updates coming, it’s the hypersoft tyre again, the chassis is running sweet, so we could be looking alright.

"Hopefully we can have another strong weekend and start chasing down the championship leaders."
