FIA president Jean Todt has promised a full investigation into the horrific aerial crash at Macau that has left F3 driver Sophia Floersch with spinal injuries.
The 17-year-old German made contact with another car while the field barreled down at 275 km/h towards Lisboa Bend before Floersch went airborne over a kurb, clipped the back of Sho Tsuboi's TOMS car and flew into the catchfence and into a photographer's bunker, her speed practically unabated.
Floersch was conscious and taken to hospital where she was diagnosed with a spinal fracture, the teenager later tweeting that she was fine and would undergo surgery on Monday.
"After the serious incident today in Macau the FIA is mobilized to help those involved and analyse what happened," Todt said on social media.
"We will monitor the situation and make the necessary conclusions. All my thoughts are with you @SophiaFloersch & the others injured. I wish you all a safe recovery."
While Sho Tsuboi was discharged on Sunday after treatment, two photographers and one track marshal remained under observation although their injuries were not reported to have been serious.
