Doctors confirm Sophia Floersch's successful operation

Sophia Floersch underwent a successful seven-hour surgery operation on Monday following the spinal fracture she suffered in a horrendous crash in yesterday's Macau Grand Prix.

Floersch's car went airborne on the opening lap of the F3 race after hitting another car and a kurb, its trajectory violently halted by a photographer's bunker.

Surgery conducted on her back was qualified as successful by the Macau doctors in a press conference, adding that her vital signs were good while, crucially, her limbs were active.

The 17-year-old German is expected to remain in hospital for approximately two weeks.

TOM's driver Sho Tsuboi, who was clipped by Floersch out of control car, was released from hospital on Sunday evening along with injured photographer Hiroyuki Minami.

His Chinese colleague Chan Weng Wang, who suffered a lacerated liver, will remain under observation for the next ten days.

Trackside marshal Chan Cha was also involved in the incident, and suffered a broken jaw which will keep under the doctor's care for the remainder of the week.

FIA president Jean Todt announced earlier today that motorpsort's governing bod would conduct a full investigation into the circumstances and reasons for Floersch's aerial crash.
