Racing Point F1 to change name again before 2019 season!

Racing Point F1 team boss Otmar Szafnauer says the team has adopted an interim designation, with the outfit's permanent name to be revealed before the start of the 2019 season.

The pink squad shed its original Racing Point Force India moniker when it appeared last week on the entry list for the 2019 Formula 1 world championship and was registered as Racing Point F1 Team.

The name was suggested by the FIA as it included the identity of the company that acquired last summer the assets of the ruined Sahara Force India concern.

According to Motorsport.com, new owner Lawrence Stroll is eager to attach a more appealing name to the outfit before the team lines up on the Melbourne grid next March.

"It is just a placeholder to indicate future change which will take place and be announced before the 2019 season," Szafnauer told Motorsport.com.

The procedure to change a team's name has been simplified, with a company only needing to apply to the FIA rather than seek permission of the F1 Commission, a process that included getting a unanimous green light from its rivals.

While a new identity is on its way, the team's fans will be happy to learn that there's a "99 percent chance" according to Szafnauer that its trademark pink livery will remain for next season.
