Disagreements involving Binotto still brewing at Ferrari

The corridors of Maranello are still resonating with discord according to a report in the Italian media, with Ferrari team boss Maurizio Arrivabene and technical director Mattia Binotto remaining at loggerheads.

Rumors of a division between the Scuderia's two top men emerged last summer, and while Arrivabene recently slammed suggestions of a bitter dispute with his colleague, Italy's Corriere della Sera insists the rift is ongoing.

"In the days after Abu Dhabi, Binotto asked for a meeting with his bosses to understand how to proceed," correspondents Daniele Sparisci and Giorgio Terruzzi revealed.

Corriere della Sera contends that Binotto "has received offers from various teams, but he would like to stay to continue the unfinished mission".

And that "unfinished mission" is obviously to bring the title back to the House of Maranello.

"To do so requires clarity, a protection of roles and serenity in the environment," the correspondents added.

The unexpected passing last summer of Fiat-Chrysler and Ferrari chairman Sergio Marchionne dealt a big blow to the Scuderia which was left reeling from the shock and struggled to retain its form in the second half of the 2018 season.

John Elkann, Marchionne's successor, has apparently increased his visits to Maranello lately in an attempt to revive the team's stability and confidence.

"He inherited the organisation of the team but has not touched anything in recent months while his public appearances were very rare," wrote the Corriere della Sera.

"But now he has been called on to restore serenity and strength."
