Renault F1 has assigned reserve driver Sergey Sirotkin to its 2021 development program with Pirelli for which the French team will run a specially modified mule car equipped with 18-inch wheels
The program is scheduled to begin in the latter part of the season and will also include cars from Mercedes and McLaren. Each team will be allocated two days of running.
"The plan is to run Sergey," Renault F1 boss Cyril Abiteboul told Motorsport.com.
"He qualifies, he’s got a good understanding of our car, he’s got a recent understanding of Pirelli tyres, and he’s good at providing very exhaustive feedback. So he will be doing that for us."
After his maiden year in Grand Prix racing with Willimas, Sirotkin lost his drive with the British outfit and steered his limited 2019 program towards the WEC with SMP Racing.
