Ferrari and Red Bull stock up on softs for Monaco

Ferrari and Red Bull have maxed out on Pirelli's soft tyre for next week's Monaco Grand Prix, with each team selecting eleven sets of the C5 compound.

The importance of qualifying in the Principality and limited degradation around the prestigious street circuit has enticed teams to stock up on the red-rimmed rubber and largely neglect the medium and hard tyres.

Ferrari and Red Bull's choice will leave their drivers with just one set of the latter, while Mercedes chargers Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas, like the majority of the teams, have opted for ten sets of the soft tyre, two sets of the medium and just one set of the hard compound.

At the other end of the spectrum, Racing Point and Williams have chosen the fewest number of soft-tyre sets for Monaco, with nine sets allocated to each one their drivers.

In compensation, George Russell and Robert Kubica have each gone for three sets of the medium tyre.
