Giovinazzi dedicates best career result in F1 to Tifosi!

Alfa Romeo's Antonio Giovinazzi scored a career best in his home race on Sunday at Monza, a performance the young Italian donated to his local supporters.

Giovinazzi drove a steady race, and contrary to Spa where he threw away a ninth-place finish on the last lap, the Alfa charger kept a cool head on his shoulders when pressured from behind by McLaren's Lando Norris.

"It was a positive day for Italy today," enthused the 25-year-old.

"I want to dedicate the two points to all the Tifosi here because I had their full support, from already on Wednesday in Milan until today.

"A lot of my friends are here, my family was is here, just a great weekend.

"Starting on softs and changing to mediums turned out to be the best strategy, but I had to do my best to keep the McLaren of Norris behind.

"It was a difficult race, but a lot of our work has been rewarded, especially after Spa."

Giovinazzi has taken some time to get himself in gear over the course of his first complete season in F1, belated progress that has led pundits to speculate about his future.

However performance at Monza has likely helped his stock but Giovinazzi intends on keeping his head down until the curtain falls in Abu Dhabi.

"I don't want to focus too much [on 2020]," he said.

"If I'm doing well, nobody can take my seat. What happened in Spa, until the last lap I was P9, now again P9, we need to just be in the points in every race.

"Singapore will be a completely different track, with high downforce, street track, so we need to see how the car will perform there. But I'm sure we can also have a good result there."
