Kvyat: Experienced line-up in 2020 will benefit Toro Rosso

Daniil Kvyat believes the combined experience of himself and teammate Pierre Gasly, as well as the healthy emulation between the two drivers, will benefit Toro Rosso in 2020.

A more mature and wiser Kvyat was brought back to Faenza at the start of this season after a year on the sidelines.

But while the Russian driver started his campaign alongside rookie Alex Albon, Gasly is now sitting on the other side of the Toro Rosso garage where he will remain for 2020.

In Brazil, the Frenchman added a second podium to his team's 2019 track record after Kvyat's third-place finish at Hockenheim.

Looking ahead to next year, the 25-year-old believes a good combination of experience and motivation can spur on Toro Rosso - or rather AlphaTauri as it will be called next season.

"We will see, we can't set any exact expectations," Kvyat said. "We will be in the midfield zone again, it will be tight again. We will try to do our best to be as high up in the order as we can.

"I think it is really good for the team, we have the experience. It's good to go to winter testing knowing that the feedback from the car will be 'exactly that', what we're saying about the car this year since he joined back at the team is very similar.

"It's only very small differences. So we both feel the same, the feedback from the car is good. So it's good that we both know all the tracks, so in FP1 in Australia, we can both push each other."

There is no doubting Alex Albon's speed, hence why the British-Thai racer was promoted to Red Bull instead of the Russian after F1's summer break. But Kvyat believes Gasly brings the benefit of both speed and experience to the Italian outfit.

"Sometimes you might get a rookie who has a really good flow and is actually faster as a rookie then when he is experienced," he added.

"But, Pierre is a very good driver and it's always good to have someone quick next to you."
