Fernando Alonso took the opportunity of this weekend’s Honda Thanks Day to test the Japanese manufacturer’s RC213V machine that fellow two-time world champion Marc Marquez rides in MotoGP.
The event gathered Honda-powered pilots from around the world, with Indycar racer Takuma Sato, McLaren development driver Oliver Turvey, and Marquez’ team-mate Dani Pedrosa also in attendance at Motegi.
After testing Ayrton Senna’s MP4/4 earlier that year, Alonso was also given the opportunity to drive the MP4/6 that took the Brazilian legend to his third and final Formula One world title in 1991.
Having recently compared F1’s lack of momentum compared to MotoGP, Alonso was able to see how it looks like from the rider’s seat.
