Haas joins Alfa for pitlane launch in Barcelona

The Haas F1 Team will be up at the crack of dawn on February 19 to prepare for the unveiling of its 2020 challenger at 8h00 local time in the Barcelona pitlane.

Haas will join Alfa Romeo Racing and indeed precede the Swiss outfit by 15 minutes at the Circuit de Catalunya, launching its VF20 on the first day of pre-season testing in Spain.

After a disappointing campaign last year, the US outfit hopes to turn around its performance this season and fight for a spot Grand Prix racing's top midfield contenders.

After dismissing its former title sponsor last summer, Haas is expected to shed its black and gold robe and revert to the grey, white and red corporate colors of Haas Automation.

Ferrari will kick off the presentation season when it pulls the cover off its 2020 prancing horse in one of Italy's grandest theatres, the Teatro Valli in Reggio Emilia in the north of the country.

The full updated calendar of the launches and the dates of pre-season testing can be found here.

Phillip van Osten

Motor racing was a backdrop from the outset in Phillip van Osten's life. Born in Southern California, Phillip grew up with the sights and sounds of fast cars thanks to his father, Dick van Osten, an editor and writer for Auto Speed and Sport and Motor Trend. Phillip's passion for racing grew even more when his family moved to Europe and he became acquainted with the extraordinary world of Grand Prix racing. He was an early contributor to the monthly French F1i Magazine, often providing a historic or business perspective on Formula 1's affairs. In 2012, he co-authored along with fellow journalist Pierre Van Vliet the English-language adaptation of a limited edition book devoted to the great Belgian driver Jacky Ickx. He also authored "The American Legacy in Formula 1", a book which recounts the trials and tribulations of American drivers in Grand Prix racing. Phillip is also a commentator for Belgian broadcaster Be.TV for the US Indycar series.
