'Race for the World' descends into chaos but hits $33,000!

Saturday's first 'Race of the World' event was a two-part chaotic affair on the track, but fans nevertheless donated an impressive $33,000 during the evening.

Ferrari's Charles Leclerc and several of his F1 colleagues set up the online series that will unfold over three nights to raise at least $100,000 for the World Health Organisation’s COVID-19 Solidarity Relief Fund.

The first of Saturday's two races took place at Yas Marina, but quickly descended into chaos. First when the entire field was inadvertently put in 'ghost' mode, and then when dubious driving tactics and an attempt at creating a safety car restart resulted in cars leaving the track left and right.

Poleman Alex Albon eventually survived the pandemonium which was broadcasted live on each drivers' Twitch channel, the Red Bull charger followed across the line by talented footballer/gamer Thibaut Courtois and Arthur Leclerc.

Drivers reined in their impetuosity for the second encounter of the evening which took place at Silverstone. Renault junior Christian Lundgaard took pole but the race was won by Arthur Leclerc who led the Dane and another younger brother, Luca Albon, to the checkered flag.
