Vettel and Leclerc to test at Mugello on Tuesday

Ferrari drivers Sebastian Vettel and Charles Leclerc will be running on Tuesday at Mugello where the Italian outfit will conduct a day of testing with a 2018-spec SF71H.

Ferrari is the third team after Mercedes and Renault to kick itself in gear by with a 2018 car while Racing Point enjoyed a limited mileage filming with its 2020 RP20.

It was initially believed that Ferrari would also opt for a filming day with its SF1000 when Leclerc drove the machine from the Scuderia's factory in Maranello to its neighboring Fiorano test track.

Instead, the team will rake up as many laps as it can at Mugello, a track owned by Ferrari and which has offered to stage a round of the F1 world championship a week after the Italian Grand Prix at Monza.

Red Bull Racing will warm up its RB16 contender and its crews at a filming day at Silverstone on Thursday while Scuderia AlphaTauri will run its new car at a promotional day at Imola.

In addition to helping drivers get up to speed, the tests also allow team personnel to practice the mandatory COVID-19 protocols that will be in force at races this summer and which will expect the teams' work in the garage.
