Alfa Romeo F1 reserve driver Robert Kubica will make his Daytona 24 Hours debut at the end of this month with Danish WEC outfit High Class Racing.
Kubica - who competed in the German DTM series in 2020 and also taking part in several FP1 sessions with Alfa Romeo in F1 - will share in the endurance event High Class Racing's Oreca 07 Gibson's LMP2 with Austrian DTM star Ferdinand Habsuburg and the team's regular drivers Anders Fjordbach and Dennis Andersen.
This year's Rolex 24 will take place on January 30/31
"This is a new challenge and experience for me, as I have been focusing mainly on sprint races in the past," Kubica said.
"Endurance racing requires a different approach: you are sharing the car with your team-mates, with whom I am happy to enter this challenge, and I also look forward to reaching the finish line of this demanding race with them.
"The car is also new, as it is the first time I will race an ORECA LMP2 car, but I hope for a smooth transition, even when sharing the driving time, so we can focus on our work and preparation for the race."
After competing in the ELMS in 2017, High Class Racing entered the WEC in 2019 with two cars. However, it will tackle Daytona with one entry.
"The 24 Hours of Daytona has long been high on the wish list of our drivers and stakeholders, and I am happy to be able to realize this dream," said team boss Nikolaj Johansen.
"This will be a single event entry for us, where we primarily get the opportunity to nurture our American sponsors and interests and learn more about the IMSA organization, but of course you never know what the future brings," added Johansen.
