'Precise' Leclerc says he has 'learned to wait'

Charles Leclerc admits to being impatient by nature, but the Ferrari driver says that over time in his professional life he has "learned to wait".

Leclerc enjoyed a flawless rise through the junior ranks, winning the GP3 series in 2016 and the FIA Formula 2 Championship in 2017, achievements that earned him a promotion to F1 with Sauber the following year.

The Monegasque then sealed his move to Ferrari by winning his first two Grands Prix, establishing himself and one of the sport's brightest talents.

And while there were inevitable mistakes along the way and during his rise, Leclerc says the errors - from which he took away a few hard lessons - served to make him better

"I’m not a person who looks much into the past," the popular Scuderia driver said in a promotional video for Armani for whom he is an ambassador.

"Every time I make a mistake, I see it as a positive thing. I’m sure that I will learn from that mistake and become a better person."

As he's gained in maturity, the young man who will lead Ferrari's charge this season alongside Carlos Sainz says he's also fine-tuned his character while remaining himself, a fiercely competitive person but who is anything but a showman.

"I’d say I’m impatient by nature, but as time passes, I’ve learned to wait," he said.

“I like things to be precise, especially in my professional life. I’ve always made my own choices, surrounded by people that I trust, and we choose together.

"If I was asked to be more of a showman, I wouldn’t change. I am who I am and I wouldn’t want to be anyone else. So yes, I’m myself."
