Grosjean finalizing plans for 'mega' Mercedes F1 test

Romain Grosjean says he has held discussions with Mercedes about testing one of its F1 cars, following up on the offer made by Toto Wolff after the former Haas driver's crash in Bahrain.

Grosjean miraculously escaped his dramatic opening lap wreck and inferno at the penultimate round of the 2020 world championship at Sakhir.

But burns to his hands suffered during his ordeal forced the 33-year-old to pull out of F1's finale in Abu Dhabi, a withdrawal that brought a premature end to Grosjean's career in F1 and sadly deprived him of a swansong outing.

In the wake of the Frenchman's crash, Wolff offered Grosjean to test one of the Brackley squad's if Haas or Renault, his previous teams in F1, could not provide him with an opportunity to conclude his F1 chapter

In an online Q&A with fans, Grosjean confirmed that a plan to test a Silver Arrow in the future is indeed being devised although no date has yet been confirmed.

"I have had a phone call with them and we are finalising the plan," said Grosjean. "I think it’s going to be mega."

In the interim, having recovered from his Bahrain injuries, Grosjean is set to continue his motorsport career in the US where he will race in the 2021 NTT IndyCar Series with Dale Coyne Racing.

The Frenchman will get his first taste of America's premier single)seater series when he tests with his new this Tuesday at Barber Motorsports Park in Alabama.
